The DHO is one of the oldest alpine skiing clubs in the world - founded in Wengen in the Jungfrau Region of the Swiss Bernese Oberland in 1925. The club has its winter base there, but is organised mainly from the United Kingdom.
We provide a permanent base in Wengen for our members together with a representative in the village throughout the skiing season for club led skiing in the Jungfrau Region
Our centrally located club room is a convenient place to meet new friends and catch up with old ones.
The club organises a variety of alpine activities in Wengen for skiers of all ages including fun, fast, supervised skiing for members' children from 7 to 13 years old and hard and fast group skiing with a top class ski teacher for 13 to 17 year olds.
The DHO is best known for its high quality training of young ski racers, and has over the years produced more members of the British Teams than any other club. The Racing and Training Committee runs 5 camps per year, in October, over Christmas and New Year, February, Easter and in the summer. The training takes in all the major British ski races, such as the BARSC Championships, the British and English Championships. The Committee encourages trainees to apply for international licences, to enable them to race internationally.
