The Village

The Swiss holiday village of Wengen at the foot of the imposing Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau mountain range in the heart of the Bernese Oberland.

There is no road leading to the village of Wengen, only a mountain railway. The village has just a few cars and enjoys a healthy, stimulating climate at an altitude of 1274 m (4180 ft), with long periods of sunshine and a dry, pure air. Wengen retains an old world charm thanks to the lack of traffic and the conservation of many traditional old cowsheds and chalets. The hotels, shops and restaurants, however, are of the highest standard.

Ideally located for the ski area of Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen, with access to the ski slopes via the cog railway up to Kleine Scheidegg or by the cable car to the top of Mannlichen, it is one of the most attractive and popular winter sport villages in Switzerland. For the non - skier Wengen offers relaxation in pure mountain air and many hours of sunshine are guaranteed.
