We run a small training group at half term with a specialist race coach. The training is aimed at those wanting to experience race training before committing to dedicated race camps, those who might want to ski for their school, college or who want to take their training in a different direction.

Review
“In February half term we took part in the DHO Performance Group race-training and had a fantastic time. Peter Wyss was our coach; he is a professional ski-race coach and he taught us how to ski Giant Slalom races during our five-day course.
“In the mornings we did race-training which involved skiing a course Peter had set up for us again and again. He filmed us racing the course and then we would all go to a small hut nearby where he could show us what we were doing and give us advice on how to improve our racing line, and our body posture, style and speed. We felt it improved our skiing massively over the course of the week.
“In the afternoons he took us to do other fun skiing including some off-piste skiing and speed tests. There were only five of us in his group, and so he was able to give each of us lots of attention. It was really fun to be taught by him and he was an excellent coach!
“At the end of the week we joined in the DHO Polytechnic races, and a special cup was awarded to the fastest racer in the Performance Group.
“We’re hoping Bob will be able to persuade Peter to run another course next February year as we would like to do this again!”
